Virginia "Ginny" Kremer Obituary

In loving memory, we celebrate the life of the beautiful, talented, Chatfield-local, Virginia “Ginny” Mae Kremer.  She peacefully passed away on July 29, 2021 at the age of 96 as her family held her hands and shared their hearts.  She will be deeply missed.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, skilled seamstress, exceptional cook/baker, loyal employee, active community member and volunteer, Ginny shined in all she was and all she did.  She was the proud mother of four daughters and adoring grandmother to nine granddaughters and many great and great-great grandchildren.  She also had many life-long friendships and cultivated many talents and interests throughout her blessed life.

Ginny was born to Elmer and Ethel (Baier) Caw on March 6, 1925, in Chatfield, MN.  She grew up west of Chatfield on a farm famous for its drive-through stone barn that her great-grandfather built by hand.  Ginny met her husband of 74 years, William “Bill” Wilbur Kremer, in high school, and married him in Oakland, CA, on April 19, 1944, before he was deployed to the South Pacific during World War II.

Following WWII, Bill and Ginny returned to Minnesota and settled in Chatfield where they raised 4 daughters, Lynn, Jean, Kathryn, and Karen (Kari).  Ginny spent 25 years at Sears, Roebuck and Company (and was likely the best dressed at her office) while caring for her daughters (and sewing most of their clothes).  Following retirement, she remained a trendsetter, selling and gifting a variety of handcrafted apparel and home goods to her communities of Chatfield, Lac Court Oreilles, WI, and Crescent City, FL.  Ginny was also an avid volunteer in the community of Chatfield and her church and spent many wonderful years traveling the United States with her husband, family, and friends.

Her family cherishes many things about her.  Her daughters remember her being a social butterfly and her hosting the best birthday parties served with her famous angel food cake, as well as, the many recipes she taught us all (spaghetti, consommé rice, pies).  Her granddaughters remember her hearty laugh, her talks on politics, her sewing expertise, her love of Jeopardy, her poise and posture, her ever-present lipstick, and many treasured Kremer cabin memories.  Her great-grandchildren remember her as a great conversationalist and master card game player.  The love she had for her family and friends is everlasting.

Ginny is survived by her four daughters, Lynn (Bob) Hutton, Jean (Bruce) Johnson, Kathryn (Mark) Simpson, and Kari Kremer; her 9 grandchildren, Andrea, Erin, Shannon, Sarah, Mia, Mallory, Leza, Sophia and Kate; her 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  In heaven, she joins her adoring husband, Bill, her sister, Betty, her brothers, Eddie and Thomas, and her loving family and dear friends that have gone before her.

Please join our family at her service on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Chatfield United Methodist Church with visitation starting at 1 p.m.  Mask will be required at the church for the services.  Memorials are preferred to the Chatfield United Methodist Church.
