Dale Lawrence Honsey

 Dale L. Honsey 86, of Chatfield, formerly of Lanesboro, closed the last chapter of his free spirited life on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his wonderful wife and kids.
   Dale Lawrence Honsey was born January 5, 1935 in Peterson, to Joseph and Selma (Hanson) Honsey.  He was baptized and confirmed in Peterson.  He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1954.  After graduating he joined the Army and later the Army Reserves.  On July 24, 1960 he married Lois Benson at the Little Brown Church in Nashwa, Iowa.  He worked as a inspector for Crenlo, Inc. in Rochester for 37 years.  After retiring they moved to Lanesboro where he worked on mowers and small engines. 
   Dale was a member of Union Prairie Lutheran Church, and served as President on the church council.  He also served on the Lanesboro American Legion as gambling manager.  Dale loved people and visiting.  He lived a good life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with good friends, his last fishing trip was with his son Joe over Memorial week.
   Dale is survived by his loving wife Lois, of 60 plus years; 3 children; Tena (Steve) Martin, Joe (Paula) Honsey, and Becky Honsey; 5 grandchildren Nicole Sperry, Alyssa Honsey, Tara Martin, Taylor Blaine, and Jarrett Blaine; 4 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Selma; 4 sisters, Helen Olson, Sylvia Moberg, Millie Culbertson, Lillie Danielson; 3 brothers, Harvey, Buddy, and Raymond.
   Funeral service for Dale will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Union Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, with Pastor Dean Safe officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before services at the church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery, with Military Honors by Lanesboro American legion Post #40.
