Virginia Anna (Schmidt) Smith

   Virginia Anna Smith, 91, of rural Chatfield, died peacefully Thursday, May 30, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.

   Virginia was born January 13, 1928, in Waseca, MN, to John and Augusta (Weigelt) Schmidt. On November 19, 1944, she married Gerald Smith.  The couple made there home in rural Chatfield, where Virginia loved gardening, canning, and her horses. She also enjoyed sewing, and painting.

   She is survived by her 5 children, Jimmy and Danny Smith both of Fillmore; Ruth (Wes) Ferris of Everett, Washington; Linda (Allen) Comstock of Wykoff; Sherry (Kevin) Horsman of Utica; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.

  Virginia is preceded in death by husband Gerald, 2 sons, Dennis, and Curtis, Granddaughter, and grandson, and 14 brothers and sisters.

   A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Fillmore Free Methodist Church, in Fillmore, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.  Officiating will be Pastor Tim Ward.
