Sally Ann (Schwersinske) Oviatt

April 8, 1937 ~ February 9, 2023 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Sally Oviatt Obituary

Sally Ann Oviatt, 85, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Chosen
Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Sally Ann Schwersinske was born April 8, 1937, in Rochester, to Carl and Helen (Pike) Schwersinske.
She attended school in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1955. She began
working at Mayo Clinic in Rochester in Medical Records until she met and married Anton “Andy”
Petersen in 1962. They made their home in Rochester where they raised their family. They were
divorced in 1986 and Sally later remarried Harold Oviatt. Sally and Harold remained together until
Harold’s passing in 2017.
Sally enjoyed reading and embroidery and she loved flowers and plants even though she had trouble
keeping them alive! She really enjoyed spending time with her great-grandson, Brantley and she always
loved to spend time with her grandkids and her extended family. She was always very stubborn and
sassy and her positive attitude helped her power through her treatment for breast cancer. We all hoped
she had won that battle, but it claimed her in the end.
Sally is survived by her daughter Sue (Don) Johnson of Chatfield, son Anton (Linda) Petersen II of
Richfield, step-daughter-in-law Trisha (Chad) Jensen of Byron and six grandchildren Kyle Johnson,
Garrett Johnson, Megan (Jayson) Stob, Alax (Cory) Fortsch, Aleesha Oviatt and Hunter Oviatt and her
great-grandson Brantley Fortsch. Sally’s sister Julie Madonia of Sacramento also survives.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold Oviatt, her step-son Darrell Oviatt and
her former husband Anton Petersen.
